Community Support Worker – Part time & Casual

MiLife-Victoria is a leader in disability support, located within the Cities of Casey, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula Shire. We support people to be self-directed and to exercise choice and control in their lives. We assist diverse range of people within our Individual Support Programs. We are currently seeking dynamic Support Workers around Southern Region of Victoria who are interested in supporting people with disabilities to explore their capabilities and reach their potential.

There are a variety of permanent part-time and casual shifts available and we are looking for people who are passionate and dependable to start as soon as possible.

The role would consist of the following:

  • • Assisting with Personal care requirements and some domestic duties
  • • Social and community participation within a centre-based environment and out in the community
  • • Supporting clients to achieve their individual goals and with many aspects of life
  • • Performing activities requiring the exercise of sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity in the performance of work

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • • Certficate IV in Disability highly desirable 
  • • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • • Current Working with Children Check
  • • Demonstrated experience working as a Support Worker within the home care environment
  • • Experience in working with adults with challenging behaviours would be advantageous
  • • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • • Ability to see the potential in people, initiative, enjoy working independently and in a team environment

Relief Driver (Casual)

MiLife-Victoria is a leader in disability support, located within the Cities of Casey and Frankston, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire. We support people to be self-directed and to exercise choice and control in their lives. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our fleet of drivers providing a specialised transport service to and from our three Learning Centres – Cranbourne, Hastings and Langwarrin on casual basis.

We currently have a need of casual (relief) drivers with and without HR licence. The hours are worked as a split shift to allow our customers to be supported to and from our sites each day. Start times depend on the route allocated, but will be approximately:

Morning shift - 7am to 9am

Afternoon shift - 3pm to 5pm

The key accountabilities of these roles include:

  • To be reliable, supportive and a good communicator
  • To be aware of and understanding the risks associated with transporting people with a disability including the handling of medication
  • Understanding the needs of your customers and working to MiLife-Victoria policies and procedures
  • Completing all tasks on time and in a manner that assists others to meet their reporting requirements
  • Maintaining a safe and effective workplace, ensuring all defects and/or accidents are reported immediately

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current Victorian Manual Drivers’ License  
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • HR/Endorsed Licence with good driving history

Permanent Part Time & Casual

We are currently seeking qualified and passionate Instructors to join our program delivery teams, on permanent part-time and Casual basis. We have multiple positions available across our sites in Langwarrin, Cranbourne and Hastings.

About the role

The position involves providing support to people with physical and intellectual disabilities especially those with complex support needs. The key accountabilities for the role include:  

  • Develop and implement a range of developmental programs for adults with a disability
  • Coordinate and conduct programs/activities which support individuals to achieve their goals as stated in their Individual Support Plan (ISP)
  • Conduct evaluations of activities in line with individuals’ ISP goals, personal objectives, likes and dislikes and organisational/centre goals
  • Maintain up to date records on our Customer Records Management System (SupportAbility) that demonstrates evidence of progress towards achieving customer goals
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment for the day to day activities within the operations of the site and in the community
  • Provide attendant care to meet individual customers’ needs
  • Respect, protect and promote the human rights obligations of the organisation as they relate to all people employed and supported by MiLife-Victoria

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Victorian Manual Drivers’ License
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of current industry standards
  • Must be physically fit to be able to safely perform all the physical and manual handling requirements of this position
  • Certificate IV Disability or equivalent highly desirable
  • Experience in working with people with a disability highly desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of the NDIS is highly desirable
  • Experience with SupportAbility highly desirable

Respite Support Worker (Casual)

MiLife-Victoria is a leader in disability support, supporting people with a disability to be self-directed and to exercise choice and control in their lives. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated individual to join our team in the capacity of the Holiday (Respite) Support Worker on casual basis. The successful applicant will need to be available to undertake both day Holiday Programs and overnight Holiday shifts.

The key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Providing opportunities for customers to determine the activities they wish to undertake during their holiday
  • Assisting customers with tasks associated with their personal daily living needs including hygiene, grooming, toileting, medical and health needs
  • Organising a menu for the holiday, purchasing of food, cooking and cleaning for customers considering their dietary requirements
  • Undertaking overnight shifts with customers during holidays
  • Organising sleeping arrangements for customers and staff taking into account personal needs and preferences
  • Managing a budget with the customers for food and activities during the holiday
  • Transporting customers to and from accommodation, activities and venues using a MiLife-Victoria vehicle  

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence (manual a preference)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Certificate IV in Disability or a similar qualification in community services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, Positive attitude and work independently when required
  • Availability to work across all days, nights and weekends.
  • 1 year in residential/accommodation highly desirable

Team Leader - Program Delivery

About us

MiLife-Victoria is a leader in disability support, located within the Cities of Casey and Frankston, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire. We support people to be self-directed and to exercise choice and control in their lives. We are currently transitioning to the NDIS and seeking an individual who is highly motivated, excellent communicators and has extensive experience working in a direct care environment in the disability sector. This is a full time permanent position which will be based at our Langwarrin site.

About the role

The key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Providing support to direct care staff based at your centre
  • Ensure all aspects of program delivery are met on a day to day basis
  • Understanding the goals and needs of all customers attending your centre
  • Communicate issues to the appropriate Area Manager when required
  • Deliver programs to customers ensuring the documented curriculum is understood and followed
  • Maintaining a safe and effective workplace ensuring all defects and incidents are reported as per MiLife-Victoria policies and procedures

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV Disability or equivalent
  • Victorian Manual Drivers’ License
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Must have extensive experience working with people with a disability
  • Excellent communication skills and computer skills
  • Experience in co-ordinating and supervising teams
  • Ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals
  • Knowledge and experience of the NDIS is highly desirable
  • Experience with SupportAbility highly desirable
